Wonder Woman (NYX gaming)
Wonder Woman by NYX gaming is one of the older superhero slots, as it was released in 2009, and it shows. The game offers little in terms of gameplaying experience and graphics, and only delivers in terms of theoretical payout. Wonder Woman fans will be thrilled to play this one regardless of its shortcomings compared to other DC Comics slots, especially now when the movie with Gal Gadot came out and Wonder Woman craze hit the globe. At this moment, this is still the best Wonder Woman slot – there are two and this is the better one.
There are only four symbols with artwork, and six low-paying card symbols which pay much less than the main ones. There is one Wild and two Scatters. Symbols are rather small and only the biggest Wonder Woman fans will be impressed with the theme. This 4×5 game with 50 paylines doesn’t pay often and the paytable isn’t too rewarding either, so this is one of those slots that play hard to get.
There is a free spins game that’s available regardless of whether you activated the Bonus Bet or not. You get 8 free spins when you land three Wonder Woman symbols on your reels. During the free spins, Wonder Woman will add Wonder Woman Wilds to the reels randomly, and they’ll be held in place for up to 5 spins. All wins are doubled during this feature.
Bonus Bet, so common in NYX gaming titles, is present in this 2009 game already, and it’s the same as in more modern titles. You pay 10 extra coins to enable a special feature. In this case, it’s the Ares Showdown Feature. It will be activated when you land three or more Logo Scatters. Ares attacks Wonder Woman three times, sending a zombie horde after the first and second attacks, and if Wonder Woman hits Ares successfully three times, he is defeated and will pay up to 100x your bet.
Theoretical return to player (RTP) greatly depends on whether you enabled the Ares Showdown feature or not. If you haven’t, and you’re playing with 50 coins for 50 paylines, RTP is only 92.48%. If you have and you’re paying 60 coins for 50 paylines, RTP of this slot game is 95.41%. So make sure you have the Bonus Bet activated at all times.
Strategy and tips
The game plays almost like a classical slot, and all you can do is spin the reels in hope of triggering the free spins game or the bonus feature. Win frequency in the base game is low, and even when wins do come they’ll be small, so the game will leave you disappointed if you’re expecting an exciting base game experience. It’s all about waiting for one of the bonus games to be triggered here so the game is best played on Autoplay. Make sure your bankroll is large enough, relative to your bet size, because it might take a while to get Wonder Woman to deliver some heroic returns.
