Slot review breakdown
Green Lantern is a 2016 NextGen Gaming title with 50 compulsory paylines and two bonus games, one with whopping 24 free spins and quadrupled wild wins. Very fun slot to play, and can be very rewarding, too.

|Officially licenced game|
Green Lantern slot was released by NextGen Gaming in June 2016 and it’s an officially licenced product based on the comic book, while the 2017 Playtech title is based on the 2011 movie starring Ryan Reynolds. One thing missing from the NextGen title is, of course, the DC Comics Jackpot which only appears in Playtech slots.
Green Lantern is the Wild symbol, and it doubles all wins during the base game, and quadruples all wins during the free spins game. It appears on reels 2 and 4 only. Uniquely, these two Wilds also serve as Scatters for the purpose of winning free spins. In order to trigger the free spins game with whopping 24 free spins, you need one Wild on reel 2, one Wild on reel 4, and a Lantern Scatter symbol on reel 3.
During the free spins game, all winning paylines which include the Wild symbol are quadrupled. Every Lantern that appears during the free spins game adds an extra Green Lantern Wild to reels 2 and 4 for the remaining free spins.
Graphics are not bad, and are done in the same style as the Green Lantern comic book, so those who are expecting something more modern and similar to the 2011 movie might be disappointed, and will go straight for the 2017 Playtech Green Lantern slot. This NextGen one is a comic book slot game, and the game symbols feature four comic book symbols, as well as six card symbols that don’t really pay much.
Green Lantern has 50 compulsory paylines, and the minimum bet per payline is $0.01, making the minimum bet per spin $0.50. Maximum bet is $50. There is also an additional way to play the game, and that is to activate the Bonus Bet feature which gives you increased payout and also costs more to play. With Bonus Bet switched on, you’ll be paying 60 coins for 50 paylines, so the minimum bet will be $0.60 and the maximum will be $60.
Theoretical return to player (RTP) is greatly increased with the Bonus Bet on, it’s 95.431% with it and only 92.35% without it, so the game isn’t worth playing without the Bonus Bet as that deprives you of the Ring Feature. Only of Bonus Bet is active you’ll have a chance of landing the Bonus Ring symbol, and when you land three you’ll be able to win up to 100x your bet size.
Just like most games that offer you a way of paying more to get an increased payout, Green Lantern is also a much better game when that feature is switched on. With the Bonus Bet feature you’ll get solid payout of 95.431% that comes from the Ring Feature that can award up to 100x win. So it is definitely advisable to play with Bonus Bet activated.
